Midday Nervous System Nourishment

Thursdays, 12pm

50 minutes

Led by Jessie Kissinger, PLPC, RYT-500 (she/her)

2/19, 2/26, 3/12, 3/19

Class Description

This lunchtime yoga class offers an opportunity to take a pause from the computer, the to-do list, the heaviness, and the overwhelm, and return to your body.

Through mindful movement and grounding practices, we’ll work with the tension or stuck-ness of the morning and support your nervous system in settling and re-centering—so you can move into the rest of your day feeling relaxed, clear, and alert. Some days we’re dragging and need a little more fire; other days we’re stressed and need to slow down.

This class draws on Ayurvedic seasonal wisdom to help restore balance.

Designed for both beginners and experienced yogis, the practice emphasizes accessible yoga basics, choice-based movement, and supportive guidance throughout.

Registration

$10 per class.

Meet Jessie

Psychotherapist, Yoga Teacher

Jessie Kissinger has been practicing yoga for over 15 years and teaching since 2018. She completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at Joy of Yoga in St. Louis in 2018 and a 300-hour advanced training at Circle Yoga Shala in Jasper, Arkansas in 2025. Additionally, she participated in a 40-hour Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) workshop at Kripalu in Lennox, Massachusetts.

Jessie structures her movement classes around yogic, mindfulness, and mental health theories, depending on the needs of her students. A practice designed to soothe anxiety would focus on techniques to settle the nervous system, while a class for depression might aim to energize the body. A traditional trauma-sensitive class would emphasize noticing sensation over perfecting alignment, whereas a lesson to address chronic pain might zoom in on alignment to support efficiency and ease of movement. Regardless of the approach, Jessie's main goal is to create a space where you can listen to your body, breathe, and be kind to yourself.

Outside of teaching, Jessie is a psychotherapist (she practices here at Empowered Spaces) and a home gardener. One of the great joys of her life was spending a month at the Navdanya Biodiversity Conservation Farm, founded by Dr. Vandana Shiva, where she learned how radical it can be to save a seed.
