Meet Jillayna

Hi, I’m Jillayna (said Jill-anna)! I’m an EMDR Certified trauma psychotherapist (LPC, LMHC)  with a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health and backgrounds in Psychology and Anthropology. I am a lover of all things people and culture! I'm also a writer and speaker, and work to write and advocate for my passions– which include: mental health awareness, human rights in the U.S, and in impoverished countries; child, adolescent, and mother/parent mental wellness (with a focus on Depression, Anxiety, suicide ideation and identity development); and the psychosocial implications of the modern western world.

I am a Canadian transplant currently living in St. Louis with my partner and our two kiddos. I am down to earth, a feminist and firm believer in letting your freak flag fly.

I am trained in, and most commonly employ psychodynamic psychotherapy, EMDR, interpersonal, and narrative therapies, as well as expressive arts, Internal Family Systems and mindfulness practice. I also utilize CBT and DBT. My experience includes working with children and teenagers with significant Depression and Anxiety and suicide ideation, mothers/parents, the LGBTQIA community, extensive cross-cultural trauma work with refugee children/adolescents/adults, and individuals in various stages of identity development and exploration. I occasionally offer groups and workshops for mothers and teens, which can be found on my website or socials.

I am a board member of Welcome Neighbor STL, and do additional work with refugee populations.

At Bright Tribe Therapy and Wellness, I happily welcome and work to empower all genders, sexualities, religions and identities. I am sex-positive and informed and trained in ENM/CNM.

Bright Tribe is located at Empowered Spaces in St. Louis, and also on-site at various locations in St. Louis and St. Charles. I am also available remotely via Teletherapy. I am Licensed in Missouri and Florida.

You can find me on Social Media but in very limited doses– come find me in real life!
